Sally Garden (trad.)

it was down by the sally garden
my love and i did meet
she crossed the sally garden
on little snow white feet
she bade me take life easy
like the leaves that grow upon the tree
but i was young and foolish
and with her did not agree

in a field down by the river
my love and i did stand
and on her leaning shoulder
she placed her snow white hand
she bade me take love easy
like the grass that grows along the weirs
but i was young and foolish
and now am filled with tears.
